What is compression therapy for recovery?

Additionally, compression boots reduce inflammation and muscle micro-trauma (the small tears that training causes in your muscles). Compression boots can help you recover from your training faster and thus reduce your risk of injury caused by excessive training.

Post-exercise soreness (DOMS) not only interferes with training but its also simply uncomfortable! Did you know you can prevent or dramatically reduce delayed onset muscle soreness altogether? Using massage and/or compression therapy soon after exercise increases circulation thereby removing metabolic waste such as carbon dioxide and lactic acid.

The Anatomy of Wellness currently offers compression therapy for recovery in the form of leg boots. New to the compression scene? It’s easy, schedule your appointment and come wearing loose, comfortable clothes. Once the compression boots are on, you’ll relax and recover in a zero gravity chair.

How Often Should You Do Compression Therapy?

While you will feel great after just one session, like all therapies repeated use yields the greatest benefits. Generally speaking, a healthy individual can use compression therapy 4-6 times per week. It is particularly invigorating after a tough training session and during longer training periods for high endurance events such as marathons, triathlons and other athletic competitions.
